we might just have today

Mama in the flower garden, helpin' me to grow some roots.
Daddy by my bed at night readin' me my favorite book.
Grandpa ridin' into the yard, on his big, white, noble steed.
Grandma busy in the kitchen carin' for everyone's needs.

There are some memories that we hate to let slip away
but often times we forget them in all we gotta do today.

Chasin' squirrels with our BB guns, till we run them all off the place
no meat to show for our efforts just big grins upon our face.
Swingin' from the tree rope into the water hole,
Lazy, long, slow, summer days when you have nowhere to go.

There are some memories that we hate to let slip away
but often times we forget them in all we gotta do today.

Then one day you realize, that time has flown right past.
You're hair doesn't have color and you're days are at their last.
And in that moment, you sift through your list to do
and run to find those loved ones who are the most important to you.

There are some memories that we hate to let slip away
but there's no time to wait anymore 'cuz we might just have today.
Our lives get cluttered, but don't get caught up in the haze.
There's no time to wait anymore 'cuz we might just have today.
